Finance Director (Leading Education Group)
A leading education group is seeking a Finance Director to guide the financial strategy and operations of its rapidly expanding organisation. This pivotal role offers you the opportunity to shape the future of finance within a dynamic environment that values innovation, operational excellence, and collaborative decision-making.
What you'll do:
As Finance Director for this respected education group, your day-to-day responsibilities will centre on steering financial strategy in line with organisational goals while championing operational excellence. You will collaborate extensively with senior executives to provide clear financial guidance that shapes key business decisions. Your focus on transformation will see you lead initiatives that modernise systems and processes—driving efficiency through digitisation and automation. By centralising core operations yet supporting local autonomy at each branch, you will balance consistency with adaptability. You will also play a vital role in maintaining rigorous governance standards by managing audits and compliance matters. Building a capable finance team will be integral to your success; you’ll mentor colleagues in areas such as FP&A and digital finance tools while cultivating an environment where accountability and innovation thrive.
- Guide the overall finance function, ensuring that financial management is fully aligned with company strategy and operational objectives across all locations.
- Oversee comprehensive financial planning activities including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and risk mitigation to support sustainable growth.
- Partner with executive leaders and key stakeholders to deliver insightful analysis that informs business performance and supports well-considered decision-making.
- Support major strategic initiatives such as pricing strategies, cost optimisation programmes, investment planning efforts, and corporate restructuring projects.
- Champion operational efficiency by driving finance innovation through digitisation, automation, dashboard reporting, and adoption of advanced data analytics tools.
- Centralise finance operations while empowering branch-level autonomy to maintain consistency alongside flexibility throughout the network.
- Establish robust internal controls and compliance processes that ensure strong financial governance across every outlet.
- Manage relationships with external partners including auditors, tax authorities, bankers, legal advisors, and other critical stakeholders to safeguard organisational interests.
- Oversee audits and tax inspections while ensuring full compliance with Vietnam Accounting Standards (VAS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Build and nurture a high-performing finance team by fostering accountability, innovation, mentoring future leaders, and encouraging continuous professional development.
What you bring:
- More than 15 years’ experience in finance roles with at least 3 years spent in senior leadership positions directly supporting CEOs or Boards.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large finance teams (10+ people), showing strong collaboration skills alongside effective mentoring capabilities.
- Experience working for one of the Big 4 audit firms (KPMG, Deloitte, PwC or EY) for at least three years is highly preferred.
- Background in education, retail or other multi-outlet businesses operating nationwide is highly desirable for understanding complex networks.
- Proven track record in standardising financial operations while building robust internal controls across decentralised organisations.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting systems as well as dashboard reporting tools; experience leading finance transformation projects is advantageous.
- Solid expertise in managing audits, tax inspections and external partnerships including banks, law firms, auditors and tax authorities.
- Exposure to mergers & acquisitions (M&A), due diligence processes or corporate restructuring activities would be beneficial
