You will work hand-in-hand with planning teams to ensure optimal scheduling of automated lines while maintaining high levels of collaboration across departments. By facilitating regular meetings with supervisors and encouraging open dialogue around challenges or barriers to success, you will help foster a culture of shared responsibility for quality outcomes. Visual management tools will be implemented under your direction so that every team member remains aware of goals and progress. Ultimately, your focus on nurturing teamwork, supporting skill development, and upholding stringent quality standards will ensure both product excellence and a thriving work environment.
- Oversee daily operations across multiple finishing cells and specialised lines, ensuring all products are completed to the highest quality standards set by the organisation.
- Collaborate extensively with internal planning teams to optimise loading schedules for automated production lines, maximising cart value and supporting other sections as needed.
- Review and approve internal production schedules in alignment with master planning objectives, ensuring all line supervisors are equipped to achieve set targets efficiently.
- Initiate regular production meetings with line supervisors to provide guidance, address challenges collaboratively, and facilitate open communication regarding issues requiring support.
- Assess performance of groups not meeting expectations or targets, implementing solutions or offering guidance to overcome obstacles and promote goal achievement.
- Manage direct and indirect materials by working closely with materials planners on constant forecast updates, investigating shortages, and ensuring seamless departmental operations.
- Establish visual management systems such as target monitoring boards, accessible system sheets, updated memos, and clear references throughout the workplace to keep all staff informed and engaged.
- Implement 5S principles on the shop floor to create a visitor-ready environment that promotes safety, discipline, and efficient use of space among workers.
- Encourage small group leaders and supervisors during shift changes to reinforce safety protocols and positive behaviour within the team.
- Review worker skills regularly, develop cross-training plans to upgrade abilities and pay grades while building a motivated, multi-skilled workforce that can adapt flexibly to changing needs.
