  • Be part of an inclusive environment that values collaboration, open communication, and supportive leadership, allowing you to build strong relationships across global teams.

What you'll do:

As an Assistant Manager Quality Engineering based in Ho Chi Minh City, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that furniture products meet exacting standards before reaching customers. Your day-to-day activities will involve coordinating closely with factory representatives and internal teams to manage sample sign-offs efficiently. You will document comprehensive reports detailing each stage of the pre-production process while assisting in critical sign-off procedures when deadlines approach. Building strong relationships across departments—including Product Development, Sourcing, Production leadership, US Sales teams—as well as external partners such as third-party laboratories and customer quality engineering personnel will be essential. Your ability to interpret technical documents and inspection results will enable you to recommend effective solutions whenever issues arise. Success in this role requires excellent organisational skills, clear communication abilities in English and Mandarin, adaptability within diverse work environments from offices to production floors, and a genuine passion for supporting collaborative efforts that drive product excellence.

  • Coordinate sample sign-off schedules with factory representatives, following up weekly with factories to confirm timely sampling and adherence to deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure calendars are consistently updated with accurate sign-off schedules for all pre-production samples.
  • Document detailed pre-production reports including sample sign-off information, ensuring all specifications are recorded precisely for future reference.
  • Assist in the furniture sign-off process as needed, helping the team meet critical project deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
  • Partner with factory stakeholders and other key parties to communicate deadlines clearly, escalating any risks or delays promptly to management.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with Product Development, Sourcing, Production leadership counterparts, and US Sales teams to facilitate smooth operations.
  • Establish solid connections with third-party laboratory personnel, factory leaders, and customer quality engineering teams to enhance communication between all involved parties.
  • Support the engineering team during physical reviews of actual samples, contributing valuable insights during sign-off procedures.
  • Interpret inspection and testing results accurately, determining appropriate actions required to address any issues identified during the review process.
  • Travel locally as required to work in factories for extended periods of time, adapting effectively to various conditions within office and production floor environments.

What you bring:

To excel as an Assistant Manager Quality Engineering in this setting, you will bring a blend of technical expertise gained through formal education or extensive industry experience. Your background should include practical exposure to furniture engineering—ideally spanning woodwork, metal fabrication or paper-based products—and familiarity with relevant manufacturing processes from initial material handling through final assembly. Proficiency using design software such as AutoCAD or 3D Max will allow you to contribute effectively during sample reviews and report documentation. Your ability to communicate clearly in English (and Mandarin) ensures seamless collaboration across local factories and international teams. A detail-oriented approach combined with resilience under pressure enables you to deliver consistent results even when faced with tight deadlines. Your willingness to travel locally demonstrates flexibility while your understanding of industry standards guarantees compliance at every stage. Above all else, your interpersonal skills foster positive relationships that support communal goals—making you a valued member of the wider network driving product excellence.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university or more than 15 years of related experience in furniture engineering is preferred for this position.
  • At least 2-3 years of hands-on experience in furniture engineering is required, ideally within wood, paper, or metal furniture manufacturing environments.
  • Working knowledge of materials used in wood, paper, and metal furniture manufacturing processes is essential for success in this role.
  • Basic understanding of furniture manufacturing processes including rough mill operations, veneering and finishing techniques, powder coating applications, assembly procedures, and packing methods is necessary.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ISTA, BIFMA, UL, SOHO, ASTM, EN is important for ensuring compliance throughout production cycles.
  • Ability to travel locally within Vietnam and work on-site at factories for extended periods is required; adaptability within different work settings is crucial.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, 3D Max, V-Ray software tools as well as MS Office suite is expected for managing documentation and technical drawings effectively.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with proven ability to work under pressure while meeting constant deadlines is vital for maintaining high-quality output.
  • Intermediate-level English speaking, reading, and writing skills are mandatory; basic Mandarin speaking skills are also required for cross-functional communication.
