What you'll do:

As Production Manager – Electronics Assembly in Ho Chi Minh City, you will play a pivotal role in orchestrating the smooth operation of sophisticated manufacturing lines dedicated to smart card reader technology. Your day-to-day responsibilities will centre around resource planning for optimal output while maintaining strict adherence to quality standards. You will nurture a dependable team of operators and technicians through coaching and training initiatives that encourage collaboration. By coordinating with cross-functional departments—engineering, procurement, maintenance—you will facilitate seamless transitions during new product launches or process changes. Your commitment to continuous improvement will be reflected in your ability to implement Lean methodologies that enhance productivity while reducing waste. You will also champion workplace safety by leading briefings and promoting ergonomic practices. Success in this role means consistently meeting production targets while fostering an environment where every team member feels supported.

  • Supervise all production activities related to smart card readers and associated electronic products, including assembly, testing, calibration, final inspection, and packing processes.
  • Plan daily and weekly production schedules by efficiently allocating resources to meet customer orders and achieve key performance indicators such as throughput, yield, and on-time delivery.
  • Train, coach, evaluate, and support production operators and technicians while ensuring adequate staffing levels and shift coverage at all times.
  • Monitor product quality and process performance by strictly enforcing work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), IPC standards, and poka-yoke measures; take corrective action when defects or deviations are identified.
  • Oversee both in-line and end-of-line testing processes—including functional tests, firmware loading, RF/NFC checks—and ensure all test data is accurately captured for traceability.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering, quality assurance, procurement, and maintenance teams for production line changes, new product introductions (NPI), root cause analysis investigations, and spare parts availability.
  • Implement continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean manufacturing tools (5S, Kaizen) to reduce cycle times, scrap rates, rework costs; track progress on improvement projects regularly.
  • Maintain comprehensive production documentation including logs, yield reports, downtime records, KPI dashboards; provide timely updates to management on operational performance.
  • Foster a safe working environment by enforcing environmental health and safety (EHS) policies; lead daily/weekly safety briefings; ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and promote workplace ergonomics.
  • Manage inventory of consumables and production materials at the line level; escalate shortages promptly; participate in regular cycle counts as required.

  • Three to five years’ experience in electronics manufacturing or complex assembly environments with at least one year in a supervisory capacity is highly desirable.
  • In-depth understanding of PCB assembly processes including SMT/through-hole techniques, reflow soldering methods, optical/mechanical assembly procedures as well as electrical functional testing protocols.
  • Familiarity with IPC standards (such as IPC-A-610), ISO 9001 requirements for quality management systems and RoHS compliance regulations is expected.
  • Ability to read electrical/mechanical drawings along with bills of materials (BOMs) and detailed test procedures; basic proficiency with MES/ERP systems plus Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Demonstrated people management abilities encompassing conflict resolution skills alongside coaching techniques for team development within a collaborative setting.
  • Practical experience implementing Lean manufacturing tools like 5S methodology or Kaizen events; hands-on involvement with root cause analysis investigations or FMEA exercises is advantageous.
  • Excellent organisational skills combined with strong communication abilities—both verbal and written—plus effective problem-solving capabilities are essential for success.
  • Attention to detail coupled with a metrics-driven approach ensures consistent achievement of operational goals within fast-moving production environments.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours during peak demand periods; physical capability for extended standing or occasional lifting up to approximately 25 kg.
