One new player in the medical devices industry based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam is calling applications for a recently created position of Legal Counsel.

About the Legal Counsel Role:

This Legal Counsel position reports to the Regional Head of Legal and the Managing Director Vietnam. The Legal Counsel is responsible for all legal matters of Vietnam entity, including but not limited to, contract review, distributor management, advise the Board of Directors, senior management, and leaders of different departments. This legal counsel will also work closely with fellow internal legal counsels and external legal counsels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advises the board of directors, senior management, and leaders of business units on all legal risks and best practices for commercial transactions and corporate matters
• Participates in board and/or executive committee meetings, as well as other corporate working groups
• Drafts and manages document templates (standard contracts, standard operating procedures, legal letters, etc.)
• Develops and implements processes to ensure efficient and effective delivery of legal services while managing and mitigating legal and operational risks
• Ensures compliance with the law and internal corporate policies. Works closely with the stakeholders to maintain diligent and prudent office atmosphere and build policies, which allows the business to accelerate in a control environment

To succeed in this position, you should have four years' working experience in legal function, in in-house or law firm experience. You should be proactive, innovative, and entrepreneurial.

Key Requirements:

• Four to six years post qualification experience with a law firm or an in-house legal department
• Strong leadership skills and proven ability to effectively manage legal department operations
• High level of agility and a proactive and business supportive mind set, to build a partnership with other departments
• Willingness to learn and develop
• Extensive experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, including but not limited to sales contracts, sales supply and distribution agreements, license agreements, and government contracts
• Familiarity with anti-bribery and corruption laws, import/export laws and licensing requirements, and other laws and regulations applicable and relevant to commercial business
• Experienced in working in a highly regulated industry in a highly regulated industry, and interacting with, and responding to, Public/Government regulators
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
