What you'll do:

As a Business Development Manager – Banking and Payments based in Ho Chi Minh City, you will play a pivotal role in expanding the organisation’s footprint within Vietnam’s financial services landscape. Your day-to-day activities will centre around forging new partnerships with major banks and payment providers while deepening existing relationships. You will leverage your market expertise to analyse loyalty programmes and credit-card benefits ecosystems—translating these insights into commercially viable products that meet client needs. By onboarding top-tier suppliers across hospitality, health services, transport, and leisure sectors—and negotiating favourable terms—you will ensure comprehensive coverage for all service categories. Your collaborative approach will see you working hand-in-hand with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless solutions from initial proposal through integration to launch. Success in this role hinges on your ability to combine analytical thinking with interpersonal skills as you navigate complex regulatory environments and drive continuous improvement across all business development activities.

* Acquire and grow relationships with banks, card issuers, digital banks, and e-wallet/payment providers throughout Vietnam to achieve ambitious revenue and margin objectives.
* Analyse credit-card benefits, loyalty programmes, points redemption platforms, and the broader ecosystem in Vietnam to generate actionable insights that inform sellable product offerings and commercial proposals.
* Identify, onboard, and manage high-quality local suppliers such as hotels, Michelin-star dining venues, golf clubs, health services, chauffeur companies, and airport service providers; negotiate rates and service-level agreements while enabling direct-connect integrations.
* Build a robust vendor matrix covering primary and backup suppliers with comprehensive geographic coverage; monitor key performance indicators such as category/city coverage, direct-connect ratios, margin improvement, and SLA adherence.
* Lead pre-sales solutioning activities including discovery sessions with clients, scoping requirements, pricing with unit economics in mind, crafting compelling proposals/RFP responses, proof-of-concept plans, and milestone schedules.
* Drive strategic partnerships within the ecosystem by collaborating with card schemes, banks, benefit partners (concierge/lounge/hotel/golf/health), ensuring mutual value creation.
* Coordinate delivery processes by working closely with Product, Engineering, Delivery, Customer Success, and Finance teams to ensure seamless contract execution through integration to go-live stages while maintaining compliance with SLAs.
* Monitor compliance requirements related to Vietnam’s State Bank regulations (SBV), data privacy laws, cross-border transaction rules; proactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
* Maintain strong analytics capabilities by leveraging data-driven approaches for decision-making; communicate effectively across internal teams and external stakeholders.
* Travel as required within Vietnam to build relationships with key accounts and suppliers.

What you bring:

Your background includes hands-on involvement in sales cycles from prospecting through closing deals—particularly within banking or payment sectors—where you have demonstrated quota attainment through strategic account management. You possess an analytical approach that enables you to dissect complex loyalty ecosystems while translating findings into actionable commercial proposals. Your interpersonal skills foster trust among clients and colleagues alike; you excel at communicating ideas clearly whether presenting solutions or negotiating supplier agreements. Familiarity with integration flows/APIs equips you for technical discussions during pre-sales solutioning phases. Above all else, your commitment to compliance ensures every partnership aligns with regulatory standards—protecting both client interests and organisational reputation.

* Native or near-native proficiency in Vietnamese is essential for effective communication with local stakeholders; fluency in English is required while Chinese language skills are considered advantageous.
* A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification is necessary along with at least five years’ experience in sales or business development within banking/payment/credit-card benefits sectors; exposure to loyalty programmes or fintech/SaaS environments is highly desirable.
* Demonstrated track record of achieving sales quotas through successful tender/bid participation and securing key account wins within the financial services industry.
* Proven ability to run requirements gathering sessions with clients; design tailored solutions; price offerings accurately; familiarity with API/integration flows as well as settlement/tax basics is important.
* Existing network of contacts within major Vietnamese banks or e-wallet providers would be highly beneficial for immediate impact.
* Strong analytical mindset combined with clear logical reasoning enables you to interpret market data effectively; excellent communication skills support cross-functional collaboration.
* Experience managing supplier relationships including rate negotiation and service-level agreement management ensures high-quality delivery standards are met consistently.
