What you'll do:

As an Operations Excellence Specialist based in Ho Chi Minh, you will immerse yourself in the day-to-day activities of marine agency operations. Your role will involve designing robust processes that cover every aspect of cargo handling—from loading and discharging to transshipment—as well as managing bunker calls, crew changes, dry dock coordination, hub agency services, logistics support functions, and P&I assistance. You will be responsible for identifying regional best practices and standardising them across the network to guarantee consistent service delivery. By developing strategic roadmaps for service enhancement and collaborating with both internal teams and external partners, you will ensure that operational goals are met efficiently. Your focus on compliance with regulatory standards will underpin all activities while your engagement in change management initiatives will drive adoption of new technologies. Success in this role requires monitoring key performance indicators to maintain high service quality; facilitating knowledge sharing among teams; supporting system implementations; fostering communal growth; and ultimately delivering a seamless customer experience that strengthens relationships throughout the maritime ecosystem.

  • Lead the assessment and design of comprehensive marine agency service processes covering cargo operations such as load, discharge, transshipment, bunker calls, crew changes, dry dock coordination, hub agency services, logistics support, and P&I assistance.
  • Identify best practices for port agency operations across various regions and environments, then standardise these practices to ensure consistent service delivery and improved cost efficiency.
  • Develop strategic roadmaps for enhancing marine agency services by leveraging technology enablement and process optimisation.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including operation leaders as well as external partners to align service delivery with business objectives.
  • Oversee execution and continuous optimisation of agency services while ensuring compliance with local port regulations, international maritime laws, and safety standards.
  • Drive change management initiatives by engaging cross-functional teams in adopting new processes and technologies that support operational excellence.
  • Monitor performance metrics for marine agency activities to ensure high levels of service quality and operational visibility across all locations.
  • Support the implementation of ERP systems, HRIS solutions, organisational design changes, and Centres of Excellence for both Operations and Finance.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing among country and product management teams to foster communal growth leadership within the network.
  • Ensure seamless customer experience by strengthening relationships with principals, port stakeholders, vendors, and business partners.

What you bring:

To excel as an Operations Excellence Specialist in Ho Chi Minh you should bring proven experience from the maritime or logistics sector—ideally having worked directly within liner agency operations or vessel management roles. Your academic background should include relevant qualifications such as Maritime Studies or Supply Chain Management. You must possess practical knowledge of cargo handling procedures alongside familiarity with port regulations governing marine activities. Experience managing time-sensitive tasks like crew changes or bunker calls under pressure will highlight your responsiveness. Familiarity with dry dock coordination plus hub agency operations adds further value. Understanding P&I procedures—including surveys and claims—is important for supporting comprehensive service delivery. Technical proficiency using shipping documentation systems combined with advanced MS Office skills ensures smooth workflow integration. Your ability to communicate clearly in English (and preferably another language) supports effective collaboration across diverse teams.   • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field is required for this position.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in liner agency operations or vessel management within port services is essential.
  • Deep understanding of cargo operations including load/discharge/transshipment procedures as well as port regulations is necessary.
  • Proven ability to manage crew changes, bunker calls, CTM transactions under tight operational deadlines is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with dry dock management processes along with hub agency operations is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of P&I procedures including surveys and claims handling will set you apart from other candidates.
  • Proficiency in shipping documentation systems such as port community platforms plus strong command of MS Office tools is expected.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal) are mandatory; proficiency in Mandarin or local language would be beneficial.
  • Experience collaborating across functional teams to drive process improvement initiatives demonstrates your interpersonal strengths.
