What you'll do:
As Finance Director based in Ho Chi Minh, you will play an instrumental role in driving the financial health of a prominent business. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you collaborating with senior leaders to shape annual budgets and monthly forecasts while delivering insightful variance analyses that keep performance on track. You will be relied upon for your ability to generate bespoke reports for executive stakeholders—translating complex data into clear recommendations that guide strategic choices. Working hand-in-hand with department heads, you’ll help craft strategies that boost growth, streamline operations, enhance profitability, and optimise cash flow. Your expertise will be crucial when evaluating investment opportunities or monitoring capital expenditure against targets. In addition to strengthening working capital management practices, you’ll champion cost-reduction initiatives that drive greater efficiency across teams. By establishing strong internal controls and supporting month-end closing activities alongside accounting colleagues, you’ll ensure robust governance throughout all processes. Importantly, you’ll also play a nurturing role by mentoring junior finance professionals—helping them grow within an inclusive team environment where knowledge sharing is encouraged.
- Serve as a trusted finance advisor to the Business Unit by providing practical insights and guidance that support effective decision-making across all levels of the organisation.
- Lead the preparation of comprehensive annual budgets and monthly forecasts, ensuring accuracy through detailed variance analyses and regular performance updates against established plans.
- Generate tailored financial reports and actionable insights upon request from senior leadership, including the Business Unit Head and Chief Financial Officer, to inform key business strategies.
- Deliver forward-looking financial analysis that guides strategic decisions aimed at optimising business outcomes and long-term sustainability.
- Collaborate closely with department leads and budget stakeholders to develop strategies focused on enhancing growth, operational efficiency, profitability, and cash flow management.
- Evaluate complex business cases for capital projects such as upgrades, expansions, or new initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and return expectations.
- Monitor capital expenditures rigorously against approved budgets, forecasts, and business cases to ensure compliance with company objectives and prudent use of resources.
- Strengthen working capital management practices while ensuring that all capital investments deliver expected financial returns in line with corporate strategy.
- Spearhead initiatives designed to reduce costs, increase overall financial efficiency, and improve both finance-specific processes as well as cross-functional workflows throughout the business unit.
- Establish robust financial controls across all operations while ensuring proper implementation of company-wide financial policies in accordance with best practices.
- Support monthly closing activities in close partnership with the centralised accounting team to guarantee timely and accurate reporting.
- Mentor, train, and nurture junior finance team members by fostering their professional development within a collaborative environment.
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related discipline is required; advanced qualifications such as CPA, CMA or CA are highly regarded.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in senior financial leadership roles or as a finance business partner within retail or FMCG sectors is essential for success in this position.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial management principles including reporting frameworks, planning methodologies, and control mechanisms relevant to large-scale organisations.
- Proven ability to interpret complex financial data sets and translate findings into actionable business strategies that drive measurable results.
- Experience identifying potential risks as well as uncovering new growth opportunities through thorough analysis of market trends and internal metrics.
- A collaborative approach combined with excellent stakeholder management skills ensures effective communication across diverse teams at all levels of the organisation.
