Senior Head of Legal and Compliance Director

Foreign Bank - Senior Management - Compliance / AML

Our client, a foreign Bank in Vietnam is looking for a Senior Legal and Compliance Director in Ho Chi Minh City.

Reporting to the Country Director and the Regional Legal and Compliance Head.

What you will do:

• Deliver clear, reliable and business-oriented legal support on regulatory and contractual matters.
• Review and advise on legal considerations for the introduction of new products, services, or strategic initiatives.
• Interpret applicable regulations and provide practical guidance on their impact to the organization.
• Develop, update and strengthen internal policies, procedures, and frameworks to manage legal and regulatory risks in line with industry best practices.
• Lead the resolution of significant legal and contractual issues in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
• Design, implement and oversee compliance programs, including ongoing monitoring and reporting activities.
• Support business units in drafting, reviewing and maintaining internal standards to ensure alignment with regulatory and industry requirements.
• Provide timely and consistent compliance advice on regulatory matters, including assessment of new or amended rules and participation in consultations where needed.
• Identify training needs, prepare learning materials and deliver compliance training across the organization.
• Act as primary contact with SBV, managing inspections, inquiries and requests for clarification.

What you will bring:

• At least 10 years of experience in Legal and Compliance, or Compliance and AML focused
• Background working in the Banking industry and relevant exposure to SBV
• Bachelors of Laws or other relevant backgrounds like Finance, Accounting, Business, Audit can be considered.
• Previous experience managing a team
• Previous experience sitting or working closely with the senior management / BOD
• Strong communication skills and high knowledge of the Banking regulations and Compliance rules in the industry
• Strong stakeholder management skills with local and foreign stakeholders of all levels
