Our client is seeking a dedicated and resourceful Area Manager for their retail operations in the North. This role offers an exciting opportunity to take full ownership of a district, driving commercial success and ensuring excellent customer service. The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting or exceeding district sales and profit targets, coaching Store Managers, and ensuring proper execution & compliance of established policies, procedures, initiatives and directives.

What you'll do:

As an Area Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the commercial success of your district. Your primary responsibility will be managing stores to meet or exceed sales and profit targets while controlling the store cost base. You will analyze data, challenge the status quo, and work closely with Retail Back Office partners and Store Managers to drive improvements. Your role will also involve planning structured store visits, reviewing Mystery Shopper reports, ensuring policy compliance through audits, managing loss prevention, facilitating brand training, contributing to business development, and leading recruitment efforts.

  • Manage stores to deliver sales and profit targets and manage store cost base.
  • Analyze relevant data to probe and challenge the status quo with both Retail Back Office partners and Store Managers.
  • Plan and prioritize structured store visits to maximize the district’s performance.
  • Review Mystery Shopper visit reports and support stores in developing action plans to improve service standards.
  • Ensure compliance with established retail policies through store audits.
  • Manage loss prevention as well as health and safety risks.
  • Facilitate the effective delivery of Brand and product training materials in the stores.
  • Contribute to business development including new store openings.
  • Lead the recruitment, on-boarding, training and development efforts in the district.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Area Manager position brings a wealth of retail management experience along with a degree in Sales, Marketing or Retail Management. You have spent at least five years honing your skills in retail management, with a focus on operations for at least four years. Your strong organisational skills are complemented by your meticulous attention to detail. You are comfortable working independently but also understand the importance of being a team player. Your ability to multitask allows you to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously. Your excellent communication skills, both written and oral, will be crucial in interacting with all levels within and outside the organisation.

  • Diploma/Degree in Sales / Marketing / Retail Management
  • Minimum 5 years of retail management experience with at least 4 years in operations
  • PC literature, excellent oral and written communication skills in English and local languages
  • Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Able to multi-task & manage projects
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Self-confident in interacting with all levels within and outside the organization
