The Senior Manager of Strategic Sourcing is responsible for developing and executing forward-thinking sourcing strategies that enhance the stability, cost-effectiveness, and competitiveness of the raw material supply base for finished goods suppliers. As a strategic leader, this role drives supplier ecosystem development, market intelligence, risk mitigation, and innovation in material sourcing, ensuring alignment with long-term business goals.

1. Strategic Raw Material Supply Base Development

  • Develop and execute long-term strategies for optimizing raw material supply networks, ensuring security, cost efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Evaluate and anticipate shifts in raw material markets, working with internal teams and finished goods suppliers to stay ahead of supply risks and cost fluctuations.
  • Build and influence a high-performing supplier ecosystem, working with finished goods suppliers to ensure they engage with the best raw material sources.
  • Identify new supply opportunities, alternative materials, and emerging suppliers to enhance supply resilience and flexibility.

2. Cost Leadership & Supply Chain Optimization

  • Leverage predictive analytics and market intelligence to guide finished goods suppliers in negotiating better raw material sourcing terms.
  • Advise on cost-reduction strategies through supplier collaboration, raw material innovation, and value engineering.
  • Track global commodity price trends and geopolitical risks, ensuring sourcing strategies remain cost-competitive and adaptable.
  • Develop benchmarking and supplier performance frameworks to ensure continuous improvement in cost and supply efficiency.

3. Risk Mitigation & Business Continuity Planning

  • Lead supply chain risk assessments, identifying vulnerabilities in raw material sourcing and proactively implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Establish contingency sourcing plans, including secondary and alternative suppliers, to safeguard against supply disruptions.
  • Strengthen supply base diversification efforts, guiding finished goods suppliers toward regional and global sourcing strategies that minimize dependency risks.
  • Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure all raw materials meet regulatory, environmental, and ethical sourcing standards.

4. Supplier Relationship Management & Influence

  • Select and manage high-performing raw material suppliers, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Develop a supplier engagement strategy, creating structured interactions between finished goods suppliers and raw material vendors to improve performance.
  • Establish strategic partnerships with key material suppliers through indirect influence, ensuring priority access to high-quality raw materials.
  • Drive supplier-led innovation initiatives, encouraging investment in technology, sustainability, and process efficiency to enhance supply chain performance.

5. Cross-Functional Leadership & Strategic Business Alignment

  • Act as a key thought leader, providing data-driven insights on global sourcing trends to support executive decision-making.
  • Work closely with Product Development, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to ensure raw material strategies align with long-term business growth.
  • Lead collaboration with finished goods suppliers to drive supply chain agility and strategic sourcing decisions.
  • Champion technology adoption in sourcing, integrating AI-driven procurement analytics and predictive modeling to optimize supplier selection and performance.

Job Qualifications

  1. Education
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related field.
  1. Experience
  • 8+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, supplier ecosystem management, or global procurement.
  • Proven success in developing future-oriented supply strategies, driving supplier performance, and leading cost-reduction initiatives.
  1. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Expertise in market intelligence, supplier strategy, and cost modeling to anticipate future sourcing challenges.
  • Strong data-driven decision-making, leveraging procurement analytics and supply chain KPIs.
  • Strategic vision and long-term thinking, with the ability to connect macroeconomic trends to sourcing strategy.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills, managing supplier relationships without direct contractual control.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, identifying and addressing supply chain challenges proactively.
  • Ability to navigate complexity in a dynamic, global supply chain environment.
  • Proficient in English - Speaking, Reading, Writing and Listening
