Save job

An exceptional opportunity awaits for an accomplished Finance and Operations Director to pioneer the finance function in Vietnam for a globally recognised multinational corporation. As the senior finance leader on the ground, you will operate at the intersection of global vision and local execution, collaborating with international stakeholders while embedding world-class standards into every aspect of the business.

What you'll do:

As Finance and Operations Director, you will be entrusted with establishing finance function from early stage in Vietnam. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you architecting financial strategies that drive both local success and alignment with global ambitions. You will work hand-in-hand with senior leaders to shape market entry plans while providing actionable insights through detailed performance reporting. You will also play a pivotal role in developing robust accounting systems that meet both regulatory requirements and internal standards. Building a talented team around you will be essential as you foster an environment where excellence thrives. By integrating your financial acumen into all aspects of business planning—from treasury management to stakeholder collaboration—you will ensure that every decision is underpinned by sound analysis and ethical stewardship.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive financial strategy for Vietnam that aligns seamlessly with global objectives, encompassing budgeting, forecasting, and robust KPI frameworks.
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to senior leadership on market entry strategies, pricing models, profit and loss management, and long-term growth initiatives.
  • Produce insightful monthly and quarterly performance reports tailored for regional and global stakeholders to support informed decision-making across all levels of the organisation.
  • Act as the key finance business partner to operations functions including supply chain and customer service, embedding financial rigour into planning and execution activities.
  • Drive cost optimisation throughout supply chain activities such as procurement, logistics, and inventory management by leveraging advanced financial modelling techniques.
  • Develop and monitor operational KPIs and financial metrics that accurately reflect service efficiency, cost-to-serve ratios, and working capital performance indicators.
  • Collaborate closely with customer service to assess operational costs, ensure accurate revenue recognition, and analyse customer profitability for sustainable growth.
  • Design and implement accounting systems, policies, and internal control frameworks that comply fully with Vietnamese regulations as well as group-wide standards.
  • Lead statutory reporting processes while ensuring rigorous tax compliance through effective liaison with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team as the business scales up operations in Vietnam, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

What you bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is required; holding a CPA or ACCA qualification is highly desirable for this senior position.
  • At least 10 years’ progressive experience in finance roles is essential, preferably foundational tenure at a Big Four professional services firm.
  • Demonstrated success in establishing finance functions within greenfield or market-entry environments in Vietnam is preferable for this role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Vietnamese accounting standards (VAS) alongside strong familiarity with tax regulations; working knowledge of IFRS is considered a significant advantage.
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems coupled with expert-level skills in financial modelling using Excel are necessary for effective performance.
  • Experience operating within reputable multinational corporations is highly valued.
  • Proven ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution; comfort navigating ambiguity while maintaining meticulous attention to detail is vital.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills are required; you must be confident engaging with C-suite leaders regionally/globally as well as local operational teams.
  • Outstanding communication abilities in both English and Vietnamese are needed to translate complex data into actionable insights for diverse audiences.
  • A collaborative leadership style marked by empathy; demonstrated mentoring capability; high integrity; cultural adaptability; interpersonal intelligence; ethical approach to financial stewardship.
