Finance Director (International Manufacturer)

A leading global manufacturer is seeking a Finance Director to oversee the financial operations of their production facility. This pivotal role places you at the heart of the plant’s senior leadership team, where your expertise will shape financial strategy, compliance, and operational excellence. You will be empowered to drive continuous improvement, foster cross-functional partnerships, and nurture a high-performing finance team.

What you'll do:

  • Oversee all aspects of the plant’s finance function as a core member of the site leadership team, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and policies.
  • Ensure full compliance and internal policies by implementing robust controls and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Manage cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, tax matters, accounts payable, fixed assets, and capital expenditure processes for optimal financial performance.
  • Drive month-end close activities, conduct detailed financial analysis, and prepare performance reports with particular attention to manufacturing variances and cost drivers.
  • Lead initiatives focused on cost optimisation by analysing data trends and providing actionable solutions that enhance profitability across the organisation.
  • Supervise statutory reporting requirements including tax filings, audits, and relationships with external authorities to guarantee regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor expenses closely while supporting cash flow optimisation strategies that contribute to improved operational efficiency.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to facilitate informed decision-making and ensure consistent application of company policies throughout the plant.
  • Mentor, develop, and lead the finance team by fostering an inclusive culture of learning; build an intern pipeline to strengthen future financial capability.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (or country equivalent) is required; CPA or MBA qualifications are highly desirable for this position.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in manufacturing finance with proven expertise in managing complex budgets and capital expenditures within large organisations.
  • Proficiency in SAP is essential for maintaining accurate cost accounting records and streamlining financial processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in standard costing methodologies as well as budget management and capital analysis/control is necessary for success in this role.
  • Exceptional communication skills are required for engaging effectively with stakeholders at all levels within a diverse matrixed organisation.
  • Deep understanding of IFRS accounting guidance along with the ability to research critical positions related to financial statement reporting requirements is expected.
  • Solid background in corporate tax application from an international or global perspective is preferred for handling statutory obligations efficiently.
  • Experience applying Lean concepts/tools within finance functions would be advantageous for driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Advanced computer literacy—including Microsoft Office suite—and excellent report preparation/PowerPoint presentation skills are required.
