Country Accounting Manager (Global Retail)

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a skilled Country Accounting Manager to join a global retail organisation in their Ho Chi Minh City office. Reporting to Regional Accounting Head based overseas, this role covers accounting, tax, reporting and analysis, as well as administrative functions locally, while collaborating with international stakeholders. What you’ll do

• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, by coordinating with relevant departments.
• Monitor the general ledger, review journal entries, reconcile accounts, and oversee accounts payable/receivable processes to ensure financial accuracy.
• Provide financial analysis to support decision-making and collaborate on projects with local and international teams.
• Manage cash flow forecasting to ensure liquidity for operations and investments while optimizing according to financial policies.
• Ensure compliance with tax laws, VAT regulations, corporate tax declarations, and perform year-end tax calculations.
• Lead daily accounting operations with SSC support.
• Adhere to accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS), internal policies, and local regulations while mitigating financial risks through strong controls.
• Coordinate annual audits (statutory, customs, tax), address findings promptly, and implement improved procedures.
• Stay updated on changes in tax laws and financial reporting standards; enhance processes for compliance and efficiency.
• Apply advanced Excel skills for financial modelling alongside expertise in bookkeeping, tax planning, audits, and internal controls.
• Responsible for all other ad hoc and administrative tasks.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• Professional qualification such as CPA/VACPA/ACCA/chief accountant certificate is a must.
• Big 4 Audit background is advantageous. Experience with high-volume transactions and asset-heavy industry (e.g. Retail, Logistics, Education etc.) would be prioritised.
• Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken) enabling clear collaboration across diverse teams globally.
• Other skillsets:

• Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles ensuring accurate record management.
• Proficiency in Excel enables detailed financial analysis using advanced functions and dynamic modelling tools.
• Solid understanding of tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance while optimizing strategies.
• Familiarity with tax planning methods, including returns, deductions, and credits, streamlining processes effectively.
• Knowledge of audit processes and internal controls ensuring reliable reporting and asset safeguarding; internal audit experience is valued.
• Strong grasp of accrual accounting and revenue recognition supporting effective financial management.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks with precision ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality.
