Head of Accounting & Finance (International B2B)

An international B2B trading and manufacturing company is seeking a Head of Accounting & Finance, based in their Ho Chi Minh City office. This person will play a pivotal role in the management of all accounting, finance and tax matters of the business, ensuring statutory compliance with local laws and corporate guidelines while driving process improvements.

What you'll do:

Accounting and Finance

• Control and maintain the full set of the accounting system for the local group to ensure accuracy, reliability, and integrity of financial data.
• Prepare annual and quarterly budgeting as well as forecasting reports to support strategic planning initiatives.
• Drive improvements in accounting and operational processes by providing advice to management aimed at increasing performance efficiencies.
• Liaise with auditors for year-end audits to ensure smooth operations and compliance with reporting standards.
• Lead ad-hoc accounting projects (including recent SAP implementation and training) and fulfil statutory requirements as needed by the business or regulatory authorities.

Tax Management

• Efficiently manage and drive tax strategy by overseeing all related processes and ensuring alignment with both local regulations and group policy.
• Handle periodic tax returns, tax payments, tax payable reconciliation, sales reconciliation, tax computation, provision, and other related tasks to ensure accurate reporting.
• Ensure compliance with corporate tax requirements, accounting reporting standards, and local statutory obligations by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws.
• Research and manage tax compliance activities including effective planning on corporate tax to support business objectives.
• Stay informed about regulatory changes relating to tax matters to ensure the company’s compliance.
• Proactively update the management team about any risks arising from changes in policy or regulation to facilitate timely decision-making.
• Liaise with tax agents for declarations and finalisation processes.

Team Management

• Supervise and manage the performance of the country’s accounting team by offering guidance and training.
• Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages continuous learning and development within the team.

What you bring:

Experience and qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Audit or a related field.
• Chief Accountant certificate is required, with additional professional certifications such as CPA or ACCA highly desirable.
• 12-15 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in leadership roles such as Chief Accountant, Accounting Manager, Tax Manager or Finance Manager within international or multinational businesses.
• Experience in Manufacturing and Production environments is a strong plus.
• In-depth understanding of Vietnamese accounting and tax laws to ensure business compliance.

• Excellent communication skills in both English and Vietnamese for effective collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Strong leadership abilities paired with a results-driven mindset to guide teams and uphold high standards of accuracy.
• Analytical and critical thinking skills for comprehensive assessment and decision-making.
• Exceptional written communication skills for preparing clear reports and regulatory documentation.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office for data analysis and financial reporting.
