What you'll do:

As Lead Technical Specialist – Data Center Liquid Cooling Procurement, you will play a central role in shaping the organisation’s approach to sourcing advanced liquid cooling technologies. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve acting as the go-to technical authority for procurement teams—offering deep insights into fluid handling systems and mechanical assemblies. You will conduct detailed evaluations of supplier capabilities through audits and process reviews while supporting strategic sourcing initiatives alongside category managers. By collaborating closely with engineering teams on product requirements and interfacing with suppliers on manufacturability improvements, you will help drive cost optimisation without compromising quality. Your proactive identification of supply chain risks ensures that the organisation remains resilient against single-source dependencies or manufacturing bottlenecks. Through your efforts in developing supplier relationships and supporting new product industrialisation activities, you will contribute significantly to building a dependable supply base that meets rigorous industry standards.

  • Act as the subject matter expert for liquid cooling solutions within the procurement organisation, providing guidance on products, assemblies, and manufacturing processes.
  • Offer technical support during supplier selection, qualification, and development activities by reviewing specifications, drawings, standards, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Evaluate supplier technical capabilities including manufacturing capacity, quality systems, process controls, fabrication methods such as welding and tube collaring, manifold fabrication, pressure testing, cleaning and passivation.
  • Identify gaps in supplier capabilities and drive improvement initiatives through audits and technical reviews to ensure robust quality assurance systems.
  • Partner with category managers and sourcing engineers to develop effective sourcing strategies that align with organisational goals.
  • Support RFQ activities by evaluating technical compliance of supplier proposals and recommending sourcing decisions based on thorough assessments.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to understand product requirements while collaborating with quality and operations teams to resolve supplier-related technical issues.
  • Interface directly with suppliers to drive manufacturability improvements, enhance quality standards, optimise costs, and support new product development initiatives.
  • Identify supply chain risks related to technical dependencies or manufacturing bottlenecks and develop mitigation strategies in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Assess alternate manufacturing methods, materials, and suppliers to ensure resilience in the supply base.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, process engineering, industrial engineering or a related discipline is required for this role.
  • At least eight years’ experience in application engineering, process engineering, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, procurement engineering or technical sourcing is essential.
  • Deep technical knowledge of fluid handling systems including valves, tubing, fittings, manifolds as well as thermal management solutions such as heat exchangers or CDU systems is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to assess supplier manufacturing capabilities including process controls and quality systems through audits or capability assessments is expected.
  • Experience interpreting complex engineering drawings, specifications and manufacturing documentation along with understanding relevant industry standards (ASME/ASTM/AS/welding procedures/NDT methods) is necessary.
  • Demonstrated understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA) principles as well as supplier process capability considerations will set you apart.
  • Excellent communication skills are required; you must be fluent in English with strong verbal and written abilities for facilitating discussions with global suppliers and internal teams.
  • Experience conducting supplier technical evaluations or audits within fluid-intensive environments such as data centers or precision fluid systems is advantageous.
