This pivotal role offers you the opportunity to shape the future of engineering and maintenance, ensuring world-class equipment reliability and operational excellence. You will be at the heart of daily shop floor activities, championing preventive maintenance, rapid breakdown response, and continuous improvement initiatives. With a strong focus on nurturing talent and fostering a collaborative environment, this position is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on, multi-site setting and is passionate about developing both people and processes. Enjoy flexible working hours, exposure to international machinery partners, and the chance to make a significant impact on production efficiency and team growth.
- Oversee all aspects of engineering and maintenance for four state-of-the-art factories, ensuring seamless production for multiple product lines.
- Lead, coach, and develop a diverse team of supervisors and technicians while driving best practices in preventive maintenance, safety, and process improvement.
- Benefit from flexible working arrangements, ongoing training opportunities with global equipment partners, and a clear career path towards senior leadership roles.
What you'll do:
As Maintenance Manager, your day-to-day responsibilities will centre around orchestrating all technical operations within four busy manufacturing environments. You will spend much of your time on the shop floor—coaching your team through complex challenges, ensuring that preventive maintenance schedules are executed flawlessly, responding swiftly to emergencies, and collaborating with cross-functional peers from production to quality assurance. Your ability to balance operational demands with strategic improvements will be crucial as you work to optimise machine uptime, reduce repair times, manage utilities efficiently, and uphold rigorous safety standards. By fostering an inclusive culture of learning and continuous improvement among your direct reports—including supervisors specialising in mechanical and electrical disciplines—you will play a vital role in shaping the next generation of technical leaders while delivering tangible results for the business.
- Implement and monitor the annual preventive maintenance schedule across four manufacturing plants, ensuring compliance targets are consistently met or exceeded.
- Coordinate closely with production teams to plan maintenance windows that minimise downtime and maximise overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Directly lead a team of supervisors and technicians through daily huddles, one-to-one coaching sessions, performance evaluations, and skills development initiatives.
- Respond rapidly to equipment breakdowns on the shop floor by making timely decisions, conducting root cause analyses (RCA), and approving emergency spare parts requests.
- Manage critical spare parts inventory levels in collaboration with procurement teams to ensure high availability while optimising turnover rates.
- Oversee utility systems including electricity, compressed air, water, and HVAC; drive energy-saving projects in partnership with external providers.
- Ensure all measurement devices are calibrated according to schedule; coordinate with quality teams for audits and validation of new equipment.
- Champion Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) practices by updating standard operating procedures (SOPs), encouraging Kaizen improvements from technicians, and implementing autonomous maintenance initiatives.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety standards such as ISO 45001 and LOTO procedures; collaborate with HSE teams on incident investigations and regular safety training.
- Report regularly on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as PM compliance, MTTR reduction, OEE improvement, breakdown rates, calibration compliance, energy intensity reduction, team engagement scores, and emergency response times.
What you bring:
To excel as Maintenance Manager in this dynamic environment you will bring extensive hands-on experience from continuous manufacturing settings where you have successfully led multidisciplinary teams through complex technical challenges. Your background should reflect deep knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems used in high-volume production lines—ideally gained through direct interaction with international OEMs. You will be adept at balancing operational priorities with long-term process improvements by leveraging data-driven decision-making tools. Your interpersonal strengths—such as empathy for internal customers across departments—will enable you to foster trust-based relationships while supporting your team’s professional development. A passion for upholding safety standards alongside an unwavering sense of accountability will set you apart as a dependable leader who inspires confidence throughout the organisation.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation or Polymer Materials; Master’s degree is advantageous.
- At least seven years’ experience in engineering or maintenance management within continuous manufacturing environments such as synthetic fibres, polymers, industrial textiles or FMCG sectors.
- Minimum two years in a senior engineer or managerial capacity leading teams of 10-15 technicians or supervisors across multiple sites.
- Proven expertise working with international machinery suppliers (Germany/Italy/Austria/Denmark/Korea/Taiwan) including aftersales support and technical troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated success implementing TPM or predictive maintenance programmes; experience with RCA/FMEA methodologies highly valued.
- Solid understanding of both mechanical (extrusion/twisting) and electrical (PLC/VSD/control systems) aspects relevant to modern manufacturing lines.
- Hands-on experience managing critical spare parts inventories using ERP/CMMS platforms such as SAP/Oracle/MS Dynamics; basic proficiency in Power BI reporting tools.
- Working proficiency in English for reading technical manuals and communicating with overseas vendors; additional languages such as German/Italian/Chinese are beneficial.
- Familiarity with automation systems (PLC/SCADA), Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or CMRP/SMRP credentials are considered assets.
