R&D Manager (local Vietnamese only)

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT MANAGER (Local Vietnamese Only) Location: Long An Salary: Competitive

We're currently hiring for a global engineering and manufacturing company that develops highperformance connectivity solutions used in data transmission, communications, and industrial applications worldwide.

This role will lead the R&D function in Vietnam, driving new product development, engineering innovation, and the successful transition of products from concept through mass production. You will manage a team of engineers while partnering closely with manufacturing, quality, sales, and global engineering teams to deliver world-class connectivity solutions.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead all R&D activities and product development initiatives at the Vietnam site.
• Develop and execute R&D strategies aligned with business objectives and customer requirements.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of R&D engineers and technical specialists.
• Drive new product introduction (NPI) for fiber optic connectors, cable assemblies, and related products.
• Oversee prototype development and sample production to support customer projects and product launches.
• Improve product performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost efficiency through design optimization.
• Partner with production teams to resolve technical challenges and support manufacturing scale-up.
• Manage project timelines, resources, risks, and deliverables to ensure on-time execution.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and Sales.
• Ensure compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and quality systems.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
• 7-10+ years of experience in R&D, Product Development, or New Product Introduction within a manufacturing environment.
• 3-5+ years of people management experience leading engineering teams.
• Strong experience with fiber optic products, connectors, cable assemblies, or related interconnect technologies will be a strong plus.
• Solid understanding of product development lifecycles and design transfer into manufacturing.
• Proven project management experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience working within ISO-certified or highly regulated quality environments.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verba, is a must.
