Robert Walters releases all-digital 22nd edition of Salary Survey

Robert Walters has recently launched its annual global Salary Survey 2021, which for the first time, comes in a new all-digital format for easier access. Adrien Bizouard, Country Manager of Robert Walters Vietnam, spoke with leading news publications in Vietnam - CafeF, Vnexpress, Vietnam Investment Review and Vietnam Economic Times, to share industry and hiring insights in the country.

Topics covered include:

  • Recruitment market overview for 2020
  • Roles in high demand
  • Top skillsets in demand
  • 2021 hiring outlook for Vietnam

Adrien said, “Vietnam’s 2020 hiring market was overall, a fairly positive one. Despite a drop in hiring activity in Q2 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a bounce back into stable hiring territory in Q3. We did saw companies facing some uncertainties, especially when senior role hires were delayed, and hiring managers being more risk adverse. However, international businesses were still expanding into Vietnam, as they see the country’s strategic value.”

Industry-wise, Adrien shared that the best performers in 2020 were companies with stocks and distribution channels in the FMCG sector due to growing local consumption. Other active sectors included pharmaceutical, consumables, branded goods, digital and tech for organisations’ business transformations, education, renewable energy, construction, and real estate.

Looking ahead for the rest of 2021, Vietnam’s employment trend in the first half of 2021 is expected to be largely positive. As Vietnam gets a more regional focus – being in the spotlight and attracting new strategic development across Southeast Asia – Robert Walters consultants have been seeing more requests from new entry clients or existing clients looking to expand.

Meanwhile, demand for specific functions in 2021 will only get more dynamic. Sales, marketing, trade, tech, digital transformation are becoming trendy sectors in Vietnam, while the field of supply chain & engineering is making a comeback, with many factories returning to operations to meet high demand loads.
