What you'll do:
As Market Access Director, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive strategies that enhance product accessibility throughout Vietnam. Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to optimise pricing policies, manage tenders effectively, and expand private market opportunities. You will play a crucial role in building relationships with government bodies to shape public policy in favour of product reimbursement. By leading high-performing teams across multiple functions, you will foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. Your expertise in health economics will be instrumental in driving evidence-based approaches that support value claims throughout the product lifecycle. Success in this role requires you to proactively identify new opportunities for access within local healthcare systems while ensuring full compliance with legal frameworks. - Define and implement high-level pricing strategies that maximise market access success across both established and emerging pharmaceutical portfolios.
- Optimise product reimbursement within key accounts by creating enabling environments that support patient affordability and access.
- Lead, motivate, and coach cross-functional teams spanning Key Account Management, Market Access, and Tender functions to ensure high performance.
- Build strategic alliances with government offices and institutes to influence public policy favourable to product reimbursement.
- Defend portfolio value through effective tender management, price submissions, competitive bidding scenarios, private market expansion, and price negotiations.
- Identify new revenue streams via private health insurance channels while supporting hospital listing processes and executing Patient Assistance Programmes.
- Contribute as a member of the Country Leadership Team by sharing accountability for leadership, strategic direction, business development, and compliance within the market.
- Develop stakeholder engagement plans aligned with cross-functional team leaders to enable access for existing products as well as biosimilars/biologics.
- Drive health economic methods, Health Technology Assessment (HTA), evidence-based medicine applications, and develop value messages that meet payer needs.
- Ensure all team activities comply with company business code of conduct and local regulatory requirements while representing the organisation on industry association committees.
What you bring:
To excel as Market Access Director, you will bring extensive experience from the pharmaceutical sector—particularly in roles involving market access strategy formulation or participation on formulary listing committees. Your academic background should include medical or pharmacy qualifications complemented by an MBA or equivalent advanced degree. You possess deep knowledge of local healthcare system mechanics such as pricing, reimbursement processes, co-funding arrangements, procurement procedures, evidence requirements, and regulatory guidelines. Your interpersonal skills are second-to-none: you are empathetic when engaging stakeholders from government agencies or industry associations. You have demonstrated your ability to work collaboratively within multinational matrix organisations where teamwork is paramount. Your supportive leadership style enables you to motivate cross-functional teams towards achieving ambitious targets while fostering an inclusive environment. - Over ten years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry with significant exposure to Market Access authorities or formulary listing committees; experience with biological/biosimilar portfolios is highly desirable.
- Proven track record working within multinational organisations operating matrix structures; ability to navigate complex environments collaboratively.
- Bachelor’s degree or MBA in Medical/Pharmacy qualification or related field; advanced qualifications are advantageous.
- Ability to interpret market access strategies into actionable planning activities that add tangible value across diverse portfolios.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal abilities; adept at developing relationships with external stakeholders including government officials.
- Demonstrated capacity for working in fast-paced environments while maintaining professionalism and adaptability.
- Hands-on experience managing cross-functional teams; supportive leadership style focused on motivating others towards shared goals.
- Commitment to ethical behaviour; adherence to corporate codes of conduct and regulatory requirements is essential.
- Fluency in Vietnamese and English; ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries is required.
