What you'll do:

As Head of Market Access and Policy based in Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi, you will play a central role in ensuring that innovative therapies reach those who need them most. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you orchestrating complex market access strategies that balance commercial imperatives with patient affordability. You will work hand-in-hand with multidisciplinary teams—spanning sales, marketing, medical affairs, finance—and act as a trusted advisor within both local governance forums and global brand teams. By leveraging your expertise in health economics and regulatory environments specific to Vietnam’s healthcare system, you will navigate intricate reimbursement processes while building influential networks across governmental bodies and industry associations. Your ability to interpret policy developments swiftly will enable you to provide actionable recommendations that keep the organisation ahead of the curve. Through your efforts in negotiation and relationship-building with key external partners—including payers and hospital decision-makers—you will help secure optimal product listings while championing initiatives that improve patient outcomes. Success in this role means not only achieving business growth but also making a meaningful difference in public health through expanded medicine accessibility.

  • Develop and lead comprehensive local Patient Access and Market Access strategies that align with business objectives, pricing frameworks, reimbursement targets, and patient affordability initiatives.
  • Guide cross-functional value and access teams in generating robust clinical, economic, and real-world evidence to support payer value propositions, pricing decisions, reimbursement submissions, and formulary inclusion.
  • Represent Patient Access interests within key governance structures such as Global Program Teams, Brand Teams, Medical Affairs groups, and local leadership forums to ensure alignment on strategic priorities.
  • Utilise market insights, health economics data, competitive intelligence, and stakeholder feedback to inform decisions related to market access and patient access strategies at the local level.
  • Secure and optimise reimbursement pathways, pricing approvals, formulary listings, tenders, and market access agreements in accordance with commercial goals and patient needs.
  • Build, maintain, and influence strategic relationships with federal, regional, and local government authorities as well as payers, healthcare providers, HTA bodies, hospital decision-makers, industry associations, and other critical stakeholders.
  • Monitor evolving healthcare policies, legislative changes, pricing trends, reimbursement developments, and market access dynamics; provide timely insights and recommendations to senior management and cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate closely with Commercial Operations, Sales & Marketing teams, Medical Affairs professionals, Finance departments, and Regional/Global colleagues to develop effective access strategies and compelling business cases.
  • Lead negotiations with external stakeholders including payers and tender committees to secure commercially viable outcomes while maximising patient access opportunities.
  • Provide strategic leadership on emerging market trends, competitor activities, health policy shifts, and new access opportunities to drive sustainable business growth alongside improved patient outcomes.

What you bring:

To excel as Head of Market Access and Policy you will bring proven experience from similar roles within the pharmaceutical industry where you have demonstrated your ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes. Your educational background—ideally at postgraduate level—will underpin your deep knowledge of life sciences or business administration. You will have honed your skills through hands-on involvement in developing successful market access strategies tailored specifically for Vietnam’s unique healthcare environment. Your interpersonal strengths will allow you to foster trust-based relationships with key opinion leaders across government agencies as well as hospital networks. Analytical acumen will enable you to synthesise large volumes of clinical or economic evidence into persuasive arguments supporting product value propositions. Bilingual fluency ensures that you can operate effectively within both local contexts as well as international project teams. Above all else your passion for improving patient outcomes through accessible medicines will set you apart as a valued contributor within this forward-thinking organisation.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Business Administration or a related field is required; an advanced degree is highly desirable for this position.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience working within market access functions or health economics roles in the pharmaceutical sector is essential for success.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Vietnam’s healthcare systems including reimbursement mechanisms and regulatory frameworks is necessary for effective performance.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully securing product listings on formularies or implementing impactful market access strategies within the pharmaceutical industry is expected.
  • Exceptional networking abilities combined with strong relationship-building skills are vital for engaging diverse stakeholders such as government officials or healthcare providers.
  • Advanced analytical skills paired with strategic thinking capability are crucial for interpreting complex data sets related to pricing or policy changes.
  • Fluency in both English and Vietnamese is mandatory given the need for seamless communication across internal teams as well as external partners.
